Baby Safety Gates - How Do They Work

If you have a new baby you will soon need a baby safety gate. Naturally, the primary purpose of baby safety gates is to prevent babies from getting into areas you don't want them in. From going down the stairs to keeping them out of certain rooms.
Baby gates are ideal for babies and even toddlers up to a point. Once your child reaches 36 inches in height, baby gates are no longer effective. They begin to climb over them or they can become a safety issue with the possibility of falling over the gate.
Child safety gates can be either permanently attached to a wall or banister, or they can be pressure mounted and portable.
Gates that are hardware mounted are designed for use at the top of stairs, or any other room as well. The added strength is necessary to prevent a baby from tumbling down the stairs.
Pressure mounted gates are great for rooms and areas you want to keep your baby in. They should never be used blocking off stairs though.
Baby safety gates also have other purposes and uses as well. These gates are perfect for keeping a family pet inside a specific area.
Another use would be for remodeling projects. A baby gate can prevent access to the area being worked on.
Finally, you can also use this type of gate to block off a home office and prevent people from using the room.
